Brenda R. Sharton is a litigation partner and global Chair of Dechert LLP’s top-ranked, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice. She is an internationally recognized expert, pioneer and thought leader in privacy and cybersecurity. A pioneer in the space, in the 1990s Ms. Sharton founded one of the world’s first law firm privacy and cybersecurity practices. Since that time, she has quarterbacked well over 1,000 data breach investigations and negotiated ransom for some of the highest profile cyberattacks of all types brought by threat actors ranging from nation states to organized crime to insiders. In 2022, Ms. Sharton received Law360’s MVP award in Cybersecurity and Privacy, for which only five lawyers worldwide were selected. Additionally, teams led by Ms. Sharton received two prestigious legal innovation awards including the “Legal Innovation Awards 2022 for the Americas” from the International Association of Privacy Professionals’ (“IAPP”), the world’s foremost privacy organization, for work on Flo’s Anonymous Mode.
