What is Anonymous Mode?
Anonymous Mode gives you access to the Flo app without sharing any information that identifies you (such as your name or email address), so your health information is completely private to you.
This means that if Flo ever receives an official request to identify an Anonymous Mode user by name or email, it won’t be possible to satisfy that request.
Rest assured, Flo values and protects everything you share with us — whether you switch to Anonymous Mode or not. We are the first and only period tracker to be dual-certified in both ISO Security 27001 and ISO Privacy 27701, which are internationally recognized standards. And, Flo has never — and will never — sell your personal data.

How does Anonymous Mode work?
When you choose Anonymous Mode, no one (not even us!) can match your data to any personal identifiers. But what does that actually mean?
Your data is information you log in the app. This includes health data like the first day of your period, your body temperature, or your symptoms.
Personal identifiers are things like your name, email address, Apple ID, IP address, or Google account.
When you use Anonymous Mode, we don’t ask for or log any of these personal identifiers, so you stay exactly that: anonymous. This means any health data you share in the app is completely private to you.
You can sign up for Flo’s Anonymous Mode right away or switch later. Just know that when you switch, a new, separate account is created for you.
Certain inputted data from your original account (such as your cycle data) will be transferred to this new account. However, personal identifiers will not be transferred. Once you confirm the switch, your original account (and the data associated with it) will be automatically deleted in line with our privacy policy. We won’t be able to recover this information.
Remember: Even if you decide not to switch, you’re still in complete control of your data. You can delete, access, and update it at any time by emailing support@flo.health or via the settings in the Flo app.

Frequently asked questions
Flo’s Anonymous Mode was already in development when the US Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade (the legal right to access a medical abortion). In the wake of that ruling, some users expressed concerns about how their health data might be used by third parties, such as official requests for apps like Flo to share pregnancy data with law enforcement. We believe our users should feel in control and secure when using our app, so we launched Anonymous Mode right away.
Anonymous Mode allows you to access the Flo app without sharing any information that identifies you (such as your name or email address), so your health information is completely private to you. If ever Flo receives an official request to identify an Anonymous Mode user by name or email, it won’t be possible to satisfy that request. You can read more about Anonymous Mode in our Help Center.
