10 Flo Tips from our Customer Support

Hi there! We’ve prepared another portion of most commonly asked questions for this month. Get your fresh doze of our advice and tips on how to enjoy Flo to the utmost!

How can I change the language of Flo?

Flo supports 23 languages: Arabic (Android only), English, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Vietnamese.

If you are speaking one of the above, then you can it set it up for Flo this way:

For iPhones, please navigate to Menu > Settings > Change language and select the required one there. After that remove Flo from the memory. After you reopen Flo, the correct language will be displayed.

For Android devices, you need to select the required language in the device settings first, and then it’ll be reflected in Flo.

In Flo I’m offered to enter my weight in pounds, yet I need kilos!

Luckily, the measurement system can be changed in Flo. Please go to Menu > Settings > Metric system and enable it. It will give you the habitual measurement units.

I can see in my Flo that it’s possible to track nutrition, but where can I actually log it?

The thing is that you can’t log it manually. Flo takes nutrition information from other apps through an app called Google Fit (for Android) or Health App (for iOS), i.e. Flo connects to Google Fit/Health, and nutrition apps connect to it too.

In Cycle Settings I’m asked to enter my luteal phase. What is that and what if I don’t know the duration of mine?

The luteal phase is the time between you ovulate and when your next period arrives. It has a fixed length contrary to the follicular phase, and therefore it’s handy to know it to predict your period start.

If you don’t know your luteal length or it doesn’t match the suggested numbers, then we recommend just leaving this setting as it is – at 14 days. The app takes 14 days as an average length and can adjust it if the symptoms and events you log show another number. The best way to let the app determine your luteal phase is to enter basal body temperature on a daily basis throughout the cycle, as well as your ovulation test results. The app will then recognize your actual luteal phase duration.

Why do my cycle predictions often change when I log a new symptom?

When your cycle is not “fixed” and varies in duration a bit, the symptoms you enter can prompt the forecast to get recalculated. The more periods and symptoms you enter, the more precise Flo’s predictions become. So it’s a rather positive change.

The app stopped showing my fertile days. Why is that?

This usually happens when you enable a reminder for oral contraceptives (since ovulation gets suppressed in your body). Once you disable the OC reminder, your ovulation prediction will appear in the calendar.

Your app shows that I have a period delay, what should I do?

First of all, it's possible that your cycle length may vary slightly. There may be various reasons for this, including hormonal imbalance, illness, medications, over-exercising, changes in nutrition, stress, sudden weight gain or loss, and even traveling. Numerous studies show that the variation of the menstrual cycle length by up to a week is normal.

If you started having your periods less than 2 years ago, period delays are also totally normal, even big ones. Your body needs time to get used to hormonal changes.

But, if you've had unprotected sex and suspect you’re pregnant, the best way to find out would be to take a home pregnancy test. The earliest time for taking a home urine test is 14 days after the possible conception date, but waiting until you miss your period will give a more reliable result. If the test is negative and you don't feel well or feel worried, we suggest you visit a doctor and have the necessary tests done.

How can I add my contraception method in Flo?

The app will know which contraception you use after you set reminders for it. It can be done via Menu - Reminders - Contraception (on) - Type - Select the type you use.

If you use pills, you can also log the intake along with other symptoms on the ‘+’ screen.
